The game has fully realised environments from the series and character models that are instantly recognisable. The game does a fantastic job of replicating the visual stylings of the anime series. Then there is no real reason to drive onwards beside the story that the game relies on heavily. You just learn these skills and they become just another move in your repertoire. Plus, the unique moves are given early within the game and with little context. It’s good that the game has varied combat moves and animations but they are without any substance to make the effort worthwhile. It’s one of those titles where you could play with your index finger and tap buttons at random to succeed. However, the combat rarely feels nuanced for fully fleshed out. The game allows you to control the four key characters within the series main party and grants you unique fighting styles, weapons and special moves. However, there is a real problem with pacing within the title that makes all this decent storytelling fall flat. The game has a plot and varied side quests that will hold your attention and have you doing good deeds for those that you encounter, much like the actual show. Although it’s not a straight lift from the show, the events have their roots within the narrative, with the fire benders being the antagonists and the water nation being the allies. Firstly, the story for this title is one that will be familiar to fans of the series.

However, it has a rather dull and basic look that I feel is down to it being developed with the Wii and PS2 in mind. One thing this game does brilliantly is sticking religiously to the source material provided by the animated series. It is not a horrible-looking game and it captures the look of the show decently enough. This game looked dated when it was released. The reason for this has to be the visuals. Pre HDĮven though Avatar: The Last Airbender – Into the Inferno was released in 2008, there was no version of this game for the PlayStation 3 or the Xbox 360. You can also play with a friend I played the game with my son who loves the show and we had a good time. You will have to use these abilities to solve various puzzles. Aang for example is able to use Airbending abilities and Katara has her badass water whip.

Each character feels similar, but they do each have their own special attacks. Of course, you can play as Aang, but Katara, Zuko, Toph, and Sokka can also be played as.

You can play this game on your own or you can play with a buddy. The Nintendo Wii version has waggle controls and these work ok, but I guess if this is a good or bad thing depends on your liking for waggle controls. There is a little bit of platforming here and there, but for the most part, it is all about beating people up. Along the way, you will fight hordes of enemies, try to find coins, and solve various puzzles. Each chapter has you needing to go from the start to an endpoint. The game plays very, very similar to past Avatar games. If you enjoyed the last Avatar game, I would say that you will probably like Avatar: The Last Airbender – Into the Inferno. However, it is like they just wanted to give people the gist of what was going down. They try to give the story the TV-style by having different chapters like in the show. It skims over a great deal of it and many of the chapters are missing. Avatar: The Last Airbender – Into the Inferno as I said is based on the latter two seasons of the show, but it is a rather loose retelling of the story. The idea of the game not being set during the first couple of seasons is something I was pretty excited about as it felt like I had played that story arc to death. This game was released on the PlayStation 2, Nintendo Wii and there was also a different version with the same name released for the Nintendo DS too. I remember during this era it felt like we were getting a ton of games based on the series and to be fair, if you liked the show most of them were ok. Taking place during the show's 3rd and final season, Avatar: The Last Airbender – Into the Inferno was a game many fans were excited about.
